I think the last time I actually put the blog on ‘pause’ was when my daughter was born in 2016.
How ironic, now that she actually said to me today, “Daddy, I don’t want you to work.”
I’m pretty sure that “work” is her word for “When daddy isn’t home,” but it’s all the same to me. What am I supposed to do? Say, “no”?
I will be the first to admit, I’m hopelessly addicted to work. I never said I wasn’t. I enjoy writing, I enjoy posting blogs, and I’m obviously never without an opinion.
But I owe it to my daughter to be “present,” as they say.
I’m up at Deerhurst Resort right now, getting into our room at 6:30pm after nothing was ready, on the heels of a scheduled 4:00pm check-in, which has to be the latest in the civilized world. No worries, I made a massive scene and walked away with five dinner vouchers and five breakfast vouchers, which has to be worth about $700. Even on vacation, I can’t stop negotiating.
There isn’t much going on right now in real estate, as the week leading up to Labour Day is probably the slowest outside of Christmas. Having said that, I was quite surprised to see a few new listings on the weekend, with “holdbacks on offers,” and I’m curious to see how that plays out. 61 Marchmount Road, for example. 68 Prust Avenue too.
I expect the market to absolutely explode starting on September 3rd, and gain momentum as we proceed through the month. If you’re a buyer, just know that you are going to have quantity and quality this fall, but with increased competition, you’re going to pay for the luxury of choice.
Call me unoriginal, but I’m already scrawling notes like a madman, preparing for my almost-annual “Predictions For The Fall Market” blog post.
Stay tuned for that. And I will see you all………..
