Nope, it’s not me. Not even close!
I couldn’t hold a candle to this rapping Realtor from San Diego, who has a voice like a God!
Wow.
I mean, just….wow.
I’m not quite sure what “did it” for me during that video, so let’s recap.
0:28 – he mimic’s ‘death’ by choking
0:35 – he gets GANGSTA with his hands, spelling out each word like a gang sign
0:38 – he tries to rhyme “It’s not about buy, hold, flip for rookies” with “it’s about building a home or positive cash flow,” which clearly does NOT rhyme, and he almost sounds confused. Also – he spells “positive” with two s’s.
0:45 – he quotes Martin Luther King. Yeah, I’m sure the late doctor would be proud to be a part of this ad…
0:49 – his lips do NOT match the words, “Set your goal, write it down, continue forward.” Not even close.
0:53 – nice cliche shot of a white-picket-fence
0:59 – again, his lips don’t come even close to matching the words, and he looks like he’s asleep and chewing on his pillow.
1:14 – uh-oh…..MONTAGE! Three versions of the guy come up, except he’s wearing the same thing in TWO of them! Twin brother?
1:16 – a nice 20 second musical interlude
1:42 – something about “screams” in a dream? Sounds kind of creepy, and come to think of it, how am I going to sleep at night?
1:46 – he seems to get tired, and mutters two sentences under his breath
1:53 – he tells us that he’s actually NOT a rapper, which is good, because I was lost on Google trying to find out what his third album was called…
Wow.
Honestly, all jokes aside, I commend this guy for trying to be different.
Yes, you’ll point out that I only commended him after I poked fun at him, but come on!
Being different in our business is necessary to cut through the fat blubber that makes up the bulk of real estate agents in any city, province, or even country, and this guy has taken a comical, personal approach to meeting prospective clients.
Like the video or not, I commend him for trying.
And if you’re like me, you’ll have “Welcome to the six – one – nine…..san…..dee a go….” in your head for the next three days. Seriously, I saw this on Wednesday, and it’s still etched in my brain…
Hope you enjoyed.
Have a great weekend, everybody!

Could someone do something similar in the T.Dot and get 47k views locally? Sure. Would it be awkwardly lame, campy and goofy? Hellooo Oliver J!
Beats the heck out of bus shelter ads, park benches, flyers shoved in the door….like, who does that anymore? oh wait…

Personal favourite part is where he mails it in on the rhyming and follows up “rookies” with “building positive cash flow”.

Haha, that was the best part for me as well.

I’m not sure about this video in particular, but a few businesses were able to generate a massive amount of publicity from intentionally funny / lame / low-budget commercials produced by professionals specializing in producing those exact videos for that exact purpose.
I can say it has worked great for some people like Chuck Testa, I’m sure you’re heard of the name; his commercial was produced by Rhett & Link. Most fly under the radar, but some commercials strike gold, like Testa’s.
I can’t watch this one without cringing 🙂

My mom can rap better than this guy can.
And yes, the triple exposure part was the pinnacle of the video.

And at the time, you gained so much from the experience.
I’d call it a wash!
