I wouldn’t call my two weeks away from Toronto Realty Blog a “vacation.” Far from it, in fact.
Truth be told, I’ve been itching to get back to work.
But a newborn baby has been keeping me mighty busy!
I’ll be back on Monday with a new blog post, that may or may not have nothing to do with real estate, and everything to do with parenting…

Durham Region, considered to be one of the most affordable areas for home buyers, also experienced the highest year-over-year per cent increase on the MLS home price index with 25.4 per cent growth.
The number of active listings compared to November 2015, however, declined by about 36 per cent from 13,454 to 8,639.
“More emphasis needs to be placed on solutions to alleviate the lack of inventory for all home types,” he said. That’s especially true in lowrise housing which includes detached, semi-detached and town homes. TREB statistics refer to resale homes, but new homebuilders have also made repeated calls on governments to increase the supply of homes in the region, which is attracting an influx of about 100,000 new residents annually.
THE PRICE OF A DETACHED HOME IN TORONTO ROSE ABOUT 32 PER CENT YEAR OVER YEAR to $1.35 million. In the 905-area communities surrounding Toronto, a detached home with a yard averaged $957,517.

York — 24.81%
Halton — 21.5%
Peel — 21%
City of Toronto — 16.5 per cent

There were 8,547 sales last month, and 8,639 active listings. At this rate, the only thing stopping the active listings from dropping to near zero, is that some listings’ will have offer dates that haven’t arrived yet.
