Clearly higher interest rates have exacerbated the housing crisis. Low supply, both resale and new construction is intensifying, with some big projects being postponed or shelfed indefinitely.
Affordability to buy a home is worse than before the rate hikes, while rents are setting new all-time records.
Utilizing interest rate manipulation to fight inflation, when excess money supply is not the issue, is proving to be the clumsy cudgel that many of us feared.
Media Reaction: Yeah but house prices are down and that is way sexier. Crisis, what crisis?
