Too much serious talk about real estate lately…..time for some fun!

I’m not trying to make this into a glorified Facebook page, but here is a look into what our office did on Tuesday to celebrate a year of hard work and the upcoming holidays.

Viewer discretion is…..partially advised…

Ever meet somebody who just doesn’t know how to have fun?

Every year since I’ve been with Bosley Real Estate, we’ve had a Christmas party that in all honesty can be quite hit-or-miss.  Our parties generally consist of a lunch that may or may not stretch into dinner.  It also may or may not stretch into breakfast

Yes.  It may, or may not…

As with any company functions, friend-of-friend dinner parties, or extended family’s weddings, you’re often left wondering “Oh God, when can we leave” as you entertain yourself by tying your shoelaces over and over or going through the contents of your wallet or purse.

There was a growing sentiment among a few people in my company that perhaps it was time we change up the venue and theme for our Christmas party.

Who’d have known that there would be a fraction of the office that was vehemently against it!

Imagine somebody suggesting, “Hey everybody, let’s go bowling,” and having people turn up their noses.

Seriously – imagine somebody saying “I don’t bowl.  But I would be interested in a nice, quaint lunch.”

These people then got in their $80,000 SUV’s and went home to change into formal wear to attend which ever fundraiser/gala/social-soiree they happened to be attending that night while wearing Manolo Blahniks and practicing their phony-smiles…

The rest of us went bowling!

Oh, make no mistake – there was a mutiny of people at our office who put together their own Christmas party at Le Select Bistro, but the rest of us laced up our smelly bowling shoes and knocked around five-pins for the afternoon.

Here are a few choice photos:

Here’s me with the best front-desk-staff at any office in the city!  Hey, which exceptionally-generous, orange-shirt-wearing Realtor provided all the Santa hats??

Nobody was impressed by my ability to juggle two bowling balls at once.  Apparently, you need three for it to even be considered “juggling.”

If you’re looking for a Realtor in the Yonge/Lawrence area, look no further than Adam Parsons!  If you’re looking for greek salad, however, don’t get in Adam’s way…

Bosley brass and former Canadian Real Estate Association president, Ann Bosley prepares to roll one of her seven strikes on the afternoon…

We knew we had met our match when Alice Kent showed up wearing a bowling jersey from her LEAGUE!  I heard she put up a 185 through ten frames.  I felt somewhat emasculated…

Everybody’s favorite mortgage broker, Joe Sammut, won the candy-cane for “Bowls Most Like An Old Man.”  He can bowl how ever the heck he wants as long as he keeps getting my clients the best rates in the city!

Hey Ladies!  Krista, where is your drink?  Hmmm….that orange-shirted guy in the right of the frame probably took it…

Fourth-generation Realtor, Christan Bosley and myself show how we are both incredible nerds for having our Blackberries in our hip-pockets even as we’re trying to let loose and enjoy the party!  Hey…..where’d the orange shirt go?

The masterminds behind the Bosley Bowling Extravaganza: Jasmine Lovric and David Rose.  There’s almost fifty years of real estate experience between the two of them.  You simply couldn’t ask for a more honorable Realtor.

The winning team: Amy Williamson, Jeff Miller, Sue Harizanis, Lauren Richards, David Condren, and Charlotte Angus.  I actually tried to rig the team-selection and it backfired badly…

bowl13.JPG

I ended up on “Team Six” and ironically, I think that’s what place we finished.  We did have Bill Statten – Accountant & Controller, to keep score for us though.  He really loved putting numbers in boxes and calculating the expected future value of our scores after four frames…

What a day!

There’s nothing quite like drinking red wine in a seedy underground bowlerama on The Danforth on a Tuesday afternoon is there?

Every office Christmas party is different, and the key is to just enjoy yourself no matter what you do, where you go, and who is present.

I think I can speak for everybody when I say that we all had a blast, and many of us hadn’t been bowling in ages; I for one haven’t bowled in probably eight years.

I wonder how lunch at Le Select went for the too-hip-to-bowl crowd…

Merry Christmas everybody!  Oh wait, we’re not supposed to say that anymore…

(ahem)

I *have* met somebody who doesn’t know how to have fun!! OMG!

Have you ever been formally trained in the use of commas? I was personally studying the use of commas during my three years at college. Now, the hyphens are also a problem here. I suggest you consult the book Eats, Shoots & Leaves, which can make grammar tons o’ fun!

From what I understand, your work holiday parties may or may not (that’s may or may not) extend into dinner and sometimes even breakfast. Am I correct?

I’m not entirely sure what this insight into you personal life is supposed to demonstrate or how it relates to real estate, but I quite enjoyed reading about how realtors spend their days at the bowling alley becoming heavily inebriated. In fact, I enjoyed so much that it would make me supremely happy to read a post like this EVERY Friday. It was the perfect way to cap off the week.

Ouch! That was a harsh response! My sarcasm detector was ringing off the hook when I read that…

I’ve actually never been formally trained in the use of commas or hyphens – most of my formal training is with respect to arts involving nunchucks, finger-painting, or trapping live raccoons.

    Impressive!

It was friendly sarcasm… and I really do hope you write one like this every week. 🙂
