Video Killed The Radio Star….

Videos

….but also provided me with the following real estate follies below, which you can watch below.

I swear, sometimes I wish I had a camera following me around through the course of a week, as you can’t imagine all that I see during my travels in and out of houses and condos.

Sometimes, as you know, I’ll take a picture for my “Photos of the Week” segment on TRB, but sometimes, only a video can do the property (in)justice.

Let’s take a look at a few gems…

Buggles

A colleague asked me on Friday, “Do you really have a photo of a chocolate-chip cookie, that looks like a sad face, on your blog today?”

Yes, yes I did.

I like humour, and I love nostalgia.

And I listened to The Buggles’ “Video Killed The Radio Star” while writing this blog post.

I had to do something while waiting for the videos to upload on YouTube, after all…

But then, I decided to watch the actual music video on YouTube, and all that did was slow down the uploading…

In any event, I shot the following four videos in the last week, all perfectly demonstrating, what the kids today call, “EPIC FAIL.”

First, we have a plastic handrail in a house that was renovated, according to the listing, with “Top Of The Line Finishings Through Out.”  Yes, the write-up had “throughout” as two words…

Second, we have a video version of one of my favourite real estate games to play: “Where is the condo den?”

Sometimes, you leave the unit, without any clue what the seller, and/or original developer, consider a “den.”

In this example, it’s where the owner keeps his laundry basket…

Third, we have one of the most unique, and bizarre, condominium amenity combinations, I’ve ever seen…

And last, but not least, a classic example of “smoke and mirrors” as it pertains to “fluffing” your house before getting it ready for sale:

Wait….

This blog post wouldn’t be complete without…

…..well, I think it goes without saying that not just any video gets over nine million views…

Ah yes – ‘the den’ : this nonsense of declaring any tiny nook or cranny ‘the den’ has always been a pet peeve of yours. I’m old enough to remember when the den was actually a family room, but not any more it seems.. now it’s only big enough for a guitar & laundry basket!

Is true. What is with Canada definition of ‘den’? Is crazy. Back home my country, den is negative sell feature – cuz in spring, bear is very hungry and might eat family dog, cat or children

    More like a ‘dent’.
