Where Is The Most Expensive House In North America?

A client of mine asked the other day, “What is the most expensive house in the city of Toronto?”

I suppose it’s tough to say; does that mean the most expensive existing house?  Or the highest ever sale?  Do we look at MPAC assessments, or just sold data?

I combed through MLS, and from what I can tell, the most expensive house to ever sell (through MLS, at least) in Toronto was on Teddington Park, and fetched $17,500,000 in 2011.

I know, I know, I’m thinking the same thing as you right now: “That’s it?”

To put things into perspective, here’s a video of the most expensive house in North America, which makes $17.5 Million look like chump change…

Before you watch the video, try and have a guess at where the house is.

Okay, you probably know that it’s in the U.S.A., and not Canada.  But have a guess which state.

Is it in California?  Maybe something related to Silicon Valley?

Or an estate in Arizona or New Mexico?

How about a vacation property in Aspen or Vail, Colorado?

Or maybe a massive estate on the water in Florida?

How about something in New York State, like The Hamptons?

Or what about “old money” in Connecticut, Vermont, or New Hampshire?

Do yourself a favour, and have a guess first.

Let me know if you picked correctly…
