Condos

2 minute read

January 20, 2010

Phase Three of D.N.A. Condos is going to be launched on the northwest corner of King & Strachan this spring, and there is already a buzz about the project.

As far as King West goes these days, I’m convinced that you could build a wicked fort out of cardboard boxes, and people would line up to buy it.

I remember suggesting in a Grade Eleven course called “Introduction to Business” that Nike should make cars and houses.  Their brand was already so well established and essentially worshiped by consumers, so why not make more than just shoes and clothing?

Nike eventually entered the sports equipment industry, and it was only a matter of time before that guy on your hockey team showed up completely decked out in Nike skates, Nike gloves, Nike pants, and even carrying a Nike hockey stick.

More and more condominium developments in Toronto are linking their project launches with an existing, established, successful brand.

I think it’s genius, as I mentioned in the video…

Buyers are snapping up condos in pre-construction like there’s no tomorrow, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t still competition among developers.  And let’s not forget that every developer is pushing the envelope with how high a price he can charge.

A flashy name like “Zip, Zed, or Zen Lofts” will only get you so far these days, since every building has a ‘cool’ name.

So I find it incredbily innovative that DNA 3 is going to launch their project in conjunction with Fashion Week and all the buzz that surrounds it.

Just imagine – you went out on Friday night thinking you were going to watch a fashion show, and the next thing you know, you bought a condo!

It’s not that far fetched.  And it’s going to be more than just the exception to the rule; it’s going to become the norm…

For the right price, any piece of land can be sold. They were probably losing money there anyway.

You’re actually standing at the corner of King & Shaw NOT King & Strachan…that’s one set of lights east. We’re 11 stories, not 8.

I live in the Electra lofts building facing North so I’m not at all pleased about this development. I’ve seen a mock up of the building but I’ve heard they’ve been delayed, again. Apparently, it’s going to be 11 stories. I went to fashion week there and it was a total mess. The new spring fashion week is going to be held at a different location.
