Everyone seems surprised that Canada’s population increased by over 1 million people last year.

By way of perspective. Delhi the capital city of India and the fifth most populous city in the world, will experience an estimated increase in population of over 875,000 newcomers for 2023 alone. https://worldpopulationreview.com/world-cities/delhi-population

My God I don;t know about the rest of the Canada but Brampton population growth is crazy..It looks like entire India is now in Brampton….I am an Indian…so I am not making any racist remarks, but Brampton name should be changed to Brown town..lol
Long lines everywhere…Grocery stores….Restaurants…..traffic is crazy…..I feel like moving to small remote village in Canada

I am of Indian decent as well and now a Canadian but this does feel racist IMO…tying into racist tropes of skin color n all. Just saying..might be better of staying outside of Canada all together lest you keep getting your “India” feel everywhere you go.

    Housing crisis you say?

GDP report today from Statistics Canada:

“Housing investment fell 2.1% in the second quarter, the fifth consecutive quarterly decrease. The decline was led by a sharp drop in new construction (-8.2%), which was observed in every province and territory except for Nova Scotia.”

I believe I have said this before?

There is absolutely no shortage of houses in Canada, anywhere

      The problem is affordability.

That problem is being caused by socialist governments messing around with our supposedly independent central bank.

The Premier of B.C. just wrote a letter to Tiff (BoC governor) telling him to keep rates where they are and not to increase them any further.

High rates lead to lower house prices.

The only crisis we have in Canada is a socialist crisis.

      The cure is capitalism.

There’s a new big grey fish in the water.

This one has teeth. It’s called the Federal Land Value Tax (LVT for short). The idea is, if the Feds tax just the value of every piece of land in Canada, then owning land will cost less (because when you tax something, increasing the cost of ownership, it actually costs less to own the thing – socialist math – don’t ask, questioning socialist math is a cancel culture offence).

This LVT would be different than others in place around the world, though.

The tax would only apply to the increase in land value from the date you purchased the land.

So millenials are off the hook. Most land they bought in the last few years is worth less than they paid for it now.

They might get a refund 😉

Those in the cross hairs of this new tax are folks who bought years ago.

    Mostly retired people.

This is a “push grandma off the estate” tax. Designed to get old retired folks out of houses, so that the young can purchase them.

This new tax is coming to Canada. That is, unless the Libs lose the next election. Expect it to be a campaign issue. The Federal Liberals, skilled in the art of divide and conquer, plan to make it an election issue.

Does grandma get to keep her house? Or will she be forced put onto the street?

If your parents or grandparents own real estate and you were planning on inheriting….

Might want to keep an eye on this (the reverse mortgage folks are foaming at the mouth over it – looks like profit time).

Just when you thought there was nothing left for the socialists to take.

    Now they want grandma’s house.

Are there really people like you out there (if so, that’s frightening)? Or do you just say this stuff to get a response (if so, well played)?
