Photos Of The Week

Photos Of The Week!

Some of these pics are so damn priceless they’ve been burning a hole in my pocket (er, MyDocuments…) for weeks.

Some of this stuff, you simply can NOT make up.

You’d have to see it to believe it’s true.  But thanks to a blog reader, I have photo evidence of one particular case of blissful ignorance and the attempted cover-up.  Have a look…

In The News: Sunshine and Doom & Gloom

If I didn’t know better, I’d think the media is more concerned with selling newspapers and online ads than actually working to put forth accurate, timely, and objective news.

Wait…maybe I do know better.

On the very same day, one article from BNN talked about how Canada is a “safe haven” for real estate, while another article in the Globe & Mail detailed the CMHC’s concern about the Canadian housing market.

Then, and only then, will we feel like $350,000 for a 1-bedroom condo in King West is a downright “steal”…

“Sure, But What Would That Cost In New York?”

Isn’t this where our minds always eventually go?

When discussing the price of Toronto real estate, whether you’re a bull or a bear, people we always want to see how it would stack up against New York City.

Is that raising the bar a bit too high?  Or is that simply the most reasonable comparison for the defacto capital of Canada which has become a world-class city?

Let’s look at a few Toronto condos, and see what they would cost in prime spots in Manhattan…

Getting Your Money’s Worth

Would you only renovate your home, or add a new feature or upgrade, if you were “getting your money out” as the saying goes?

I mean would you spend $5,000 on a new feature, only if you knew it would add $5,000 in value, or more?

To other people, they’d only consider adding a given feature if they got more than the cost of adding it, making it “a good investment.”

I’m of the opinion that not everything you do to your home has to provide a dollar-for-dollar return…
