Arg!  I just wrote a whole post about the proposed changes to the Gardiner Expressway in conjunction with the 2015 Pan Am Games, and then my computer froze and I lost the whole post!

I’m too frustrated to write it over….so instead, here is a video of me trying to cross the street in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Keep in mind that this was NOT filmed for my then-non-existent blog, back in 2006, so forgive my use of the “f-word,” even though I’m sure most of you have heard that word at least once in your lives…

Have you ever noticed that people from small towns in Ontario have trouble j-walking once they get to Toronto?

Remember the time that your university buddy came from North Bay to visit you in the big city?

Remember when you went to j-walk on Yonge Street just north of Eglinton outside Indigo, and when you got to the other side you realized that your buddy was still on the other side of the street, shaking and petrified?

The traffic in Kathmandu is absolutely insane, but it’s also very efficient.

In fact, the “crazy” style of driving that I employ while driving in Toronto is something that I model around those in Kathmandu!

You might be surprised to hear that the traffic-related deaths in Kathmandu have less to do with automobile accidents, and more to do with passengers falling off the roofs of buses as they ride to work in the morning.

Some of these novices have yet to master the art of shifting their body-weight to the other side of the roof when the bus takes a sharp turn, or growing their finger-nails long enough to dig into the roof of the vehicle…

Amateurs!

Interesting. Maybe that’s the solution to our traffic congestion….just make your own lane! lol Reminds me of crossing the roundabout to get to the Arche de Triomphe in Paris…..before I realized there was an underground passageway. I don’t feel so bad about traffic in Toronto anymore.
