Under The Bridge

Condos

< 1 minute read

Awesome song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but also the title of this video I shot yesterday afternoon.

What started on Tuesday with the question, “Why would you buy a waterfront condo without a waterfront view,” has now morphed into a conversation about units next to the Gardiner Expressway that stare RIGHT at it…

Geez, I don’t really know what to say as a follow up!

I think the video said it all.

If by some miniscule chance, the video didn’t do this condo (in)justice, try walking down there some time and taking a look for yourself.

There are a few buildings that border on the Gardiner Expressway and the Lake Shore, and there’s nothing wrong with the buildings themselves.  Some of them are fantastic places to call home, and there are great lake and city views to go with great layouts, finishes, amenities, and the like.

But within all these buildings are a handful of units that I would think are absolutely, beyond a doubt, unsellable.

However, they are always inhabited, and thus always owned by somebody.

I just wonder who

I bet they’re investor suites. Or, people who don’t bother to investigate what their view will be.

    LOL

    “I think very loudly”.

Might be one of your all time best quotes, and the bar for your videos just got raised. Hells yeah.

Okay now here’s the question – rank these in order of where you’d live:

    a) anywhere in Moss Park
    b) Cityplace
    c) across from the Gardiner in a condo
    d) a mud hut in a small Mexican village
    e) a cookie cutter suburban area in the 905

Dave – I know a senior (initials MF) who rented an apt with balcony next to a North York highway…. it was not an idyllic situation….

    @ Geoff: How bout a little commentary?…

    My rankings:
D… At least the food would be good
A… At least you wouldn’t have to worry about adding wainscotting to your bathroom
E… I would hate the commute, but could sleep on the GO
C… Would get no sleep — from traffic noise
B… Would get no sleep — from traffic noise, annoying students partying in the hallways, and knowing that I made a horrible investment.

Interesting question! Do you have any data for those buildings, on how much those units next to the freeway have sold/rented for, compared to other units in the same buildlings?
