Adios, Toronto Realty Blog, 2012!

December 21, 2012

Okay folks, today is the last weekday before Christmas, and thus it will be my last post of 2012.

Here’s wishing everybody a very safe & happy holiday, and I’ll see you all in the New Year!

What the hell is Tumblr anyways?

I’m a Realtor, and a writer, and unfortunately, that takes up a lot of my time.

Yes, I’ll admit – I’m way behind on social media.  Things like Tumblr (which I just learned about today…) and other social media applications might be rapidly gaining users, but I don’t know what these things are, I don’t think they could add to TRB, and I don’t have time to investigate them even if they had value.

What the hell is Instagram anyways?  Is this just people taking photos of their lunch?

I think 2012 was a good year for Toronto Realty Blog, and in addition to a new site layout, we’ve added a few new features, made the search function top-notch (just try it – it’ll find anything for you!), and the readership has more than doubled to over 100,000 hits per month.

I know that “blogging” isn’t really considered “writing,” but that’s where I disagree.  A “blog” doesn’t have to be short, to the point, poorly-written, and about nonsense.  I’ve seen a lot of blogs out there that are exactly that, but there are some fantastic writers out there, disguised as bloggers.  I’m flattered when people put me in that category.

I have, and will always continue to have, three main objectives for Toronto Realty Blog:

1) To post 4-5 times per week, every week.
2) To tell stories, provide advice, and provide free consumer advocacy – to the tune of 1,200 – 1,800 words, well-written, and NEVER “mail it in.”
3) To be honest to a fault; outspoken, opinionated, and never hold back.

That is my mantra, and it will never change.

I’d like to thank all of my readers and commenters this year, and I encourage those people who are too shy to comment on a completely anonymous and untraceable forum to speak up!

But special thanks to Kyle, Darren, Floom, Krupo, Joe Q., Chuck, cquee gee, Geoff, daveythej, Phil, JG, Asian Sensation, DavidP, Devore, Mike, lui, Jeff316, Vlad, ABB, johnny chase, Ralph Cramdown, ScottyP, McBloggert, Moonbeam!, Potato, RPG, Lt.Dan, Jeremy, MAXMAX, JC, Horrido, Pen, IanC, Sylvain W., and any of my regular commenters who I may have missed, even though I just spent a half hour going back and looking!

It’s the cumulative efforts of all the readers that make this blog interesting, otherwise it would just be me shouting cynical observations in a room by myself…

It’s now December 21st, 2012, which means the Mayans were wrong!

That’s as good a reason as any to enjoy this holiday season, and take a much-needed break from the stressors of the work-place!

As much as it pains me to be away from this blog for ten days, I think it’s necessary in order to come back with a burst of fresh energy in 2013.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukkah, Krazy Kwanzaa, or simply “best wishes for an enjoyable holiday season” to you all!

David.

Honestly and frank discussions regarding the state of real estate in the GTA is why I follow your threads.2013 would be a tough year for agents for sure and the goods ones will survive…
